Artist Camille Henrot led an incredible watercolor drawing workshop this past Friday with the Lower Eastside Girls Club. Camille introduced some exciting new Japanese pigments, brushes, and beautiful parchment paper that she uses to create her own works of art and guided the girls through a presentation of her recent exhibitions. She talked about her art practice and brought in binders filled with source material + reproduced images of her drawings to inspire the girls to create their own. After talking about what ideas, images and mythologies inform her drawings, she worked with the girls through some sketches, studies, and then larger painted drawings with an enthusiastic use of new materials!!!
