Wide Rainbow Libraries

Inspiring (free) libraries for our youth and families living in under-resourced communities.

In collaboration with Detroit-based independent curator and arts educator Asmaa Walton of the Black Art Libraryand architect/designer Melissa Shin of the Los Angeles-based firm Shin Shin, we’ve delivered over 20 libraries to community partners across New York City, Detroit, and Los Angeles. Each unique library contains 100-to-1000 culturally responsive children's books sourced through local and independent bookstores including: Books Are Magic in Brooklyn, Source Booksellers in midtown Detroit, and The Salt Eaters Bookshop in Inglewood. Wide Rainbow Libraries create space for our Title I public school students, families living in shelters, and youth enrolled in community programs to discover the joy and power of reading.
